1. Self-service reinstall
Submit a reinstall request from the service detail page and the machine is restored to a clean base system. It usually completes within 30 minutes, during which the service shows as processing.
A reinstall erases the entire volume. Make sure anything you need is already copied off — there is no undo, and we do not hold a copy of your data.
When it finishes, a new administrator password is generated and sent to you by email and in-app notification. The host address and ports do not change.
2. When a reinstall is the right move
- You have broken the configuration and diagnosing it costs more than starting over
- You want a clean environment for a new project
- You are handing the machine to someone else on the team
3. Hardware failure
If the fault is ours, we swap the unit at no charge. You will get a new serial number, and we keep the host address the same wherever we can.
To be explicit: we do not run continuous backups of your working data. After a swap we can restore the base system, not your project files, keychains or installed software. If something on the machine cannot be lost, arrange your own backup — rsync to storage you control, or keep everything reproducible from your repository in CI. Both work.
We would rather draw that line here than have you discover it after an incident.
